Understanding the different ways that children can be exploited while online and providing guidance on how to reduce risk.
Speaker -Bryan Brown - Detective with the Evansville Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit
Bio - Bryan Brown was hired by the Evansville Police Department in March of 2000. He was assigned to motor patrol until becoming a detective in 2005 with the Financial Crimes Unit. After attending specialized training at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in 2007, Detective Brown began proactively investigating crimes against children involving the use of the Internet in addition to his other responsibilities. After several successful cases, the Evansville Police Department created the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (I.C.A.C.). In October of 2010, Detective Brown began working part-time with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on child exploitation cases involving the use of the Internet. In January of 2012, Detective Brown became a full-time task force officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was assigned to the Child Exploitation Task Force out of the Indianapolis Division. In addition to investigating violations of federal and state laws, Detective Brown travels to many schools and events in the tri-state area to speak with children and the community about online safety.
